Mayco Stoneware EG005 Black Engobe 473ml
Mayco’s new Stoneware Engobes (also commonly referred to as Underglazes) are used to coat your clay body to your preferred finish/colour and are a great base to achieve variability in your glaze results.
Ideal for decorative techniques, such as sgraffito and majolica. Engobes change the colour of your clay surface without cross contamination and make for easy clean up in your studio.
Mayco Engobes fire matte, and a clear glaze can be applied to intensify the colour or make your piece suitable for dinnerware.
Cone 6 oxidation: Black Engobe fires matte black.
Cone 10 reduction: No change.
Firing Range: Cone 5-10
Food Safety: AP Certified. Due to surface durability or texture of the fired surface, Engobes must be coated in a food safe clear glaze according to manufacturer’s directions to be considered dinnerware safe.
Please check the new Mayco 2024 Stoneware Release Flyer or individual product packaging for specific food safety labelling.
